Bookclub Review

Snow by Orhan Pamuk proved to be our most controversial book to date. We discussed the novel for nearly two hours, reflecting the strong and varied reactions it provoked. Pamuk’s writing style leans toward magical realism, with language that is deceptively simple yet carefully chosen. Throughout the novel, we identified elements of humour and absurdity, which added depth and contrast to the narrative.
We were deeply impressed by Pamuk’s literary talent he is undoubtedly a great novelist. At the same time, a sense of authorial arrogance was evident in his writing style, which itself became a point of discussion. Despite (or perhaps because of) these tensions, Snow left a lasting impression on us.
