Bookclub Review

Austerlitz by W. G. Sebald inspired deep sympathy for its protagonist, whose identity is shaped by a profoundly traumatic childhood. Readers were fascinated by the way Austerlitz constructs a mental map of his world, one seemingly governed by architectural forms, described with meticulous precision. In the end, we agreed that the book is a monumental work of art, written by an outstanding author who demonstrates profound knowledge and an immense sensitivity to architecture and recent history.
