Almost all of the group thoroughly enjoyed Netherland and rated it very highly for its beautifully crafted prose and dreamy style.
 
However, a couple of people found the book rather weak, describing it as “pretentiously written,” “boring,” and meandering. Those who liked the book found the language very evocative and agreed that O’Neill captured the feel of both the Netherlands and New York very well.
