Northern Lights by Philip Pullman

A great book! The plot is original and engaging. The film The Golden Compass was based on it, but the book is much better. Sometimes you forget it is meant to be a children’s book, and parts can feel a bit long, but it is definitely worth it.

Pullman’s writing allows you to imagine the world right in front of your eyes and clearly visualize the characters. If you read this book, you will definitely want to read The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass, the other books in the series. Once you start, you just can’t put them down!
