Bookclub Review

Vermeer’s Hat is an interesting book written for the discerning reader. It sheds light on globalization in the 17th century and the crucial role played by the Netherlands.
The group’s response was largely positive, although there was some opinion that the book’s central device, using paintings by Vermeer and others as a window into stories of new trading relationships, felt somewhat contrived.
If you are interested in a strong work of non fiction, this is definitely a suitable and rewarding read.
