Ruby Red by Glass

This is not an overly heavy read, yet it is powerful and deeply touching, with tender relationships and thoughtful observations of love and friendship.
For me, it offered insight into the relationships not only between Black and white communities, but also between the English and the Afrikaners. The tension is maintained throughout, as unrest grows and danger builds from those determined to prove that Ruby’s family is involved in illegal activities.
While it is an entertaining story, it is also enlightening. I like to finish a book feeling that I have learned something, and after reading this, I truly felt that I had.
