Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
What affected us most in this novel was the remarkable maturity of the young boy. His inventions are imaginative, brilliant, and sometimes wonderfully extreme, revealing both his intelligence and his unique way of coping with loss.
Most members of our group were enthusiastic about the book and described it as a feel-good novel, even though it explores an almost unthinkable and deeply emotional theme. Foer manages to balance grief with warmth, humour, and originality.
We found the novel genuinely funny, inventive, and deeply moving — a truly original reading experience.
