Silk by Alessandro Baricco: What the group thought.
I can safely say the group was divided on this book.
For everyone who felt it was too thin as a novel, there was someone else who saw it as a near-perfect short story. Some read it as a simple or even superficial yarn, while others found a dark, deep, and subtle symbolic history beneath the surface.
Perhaps, like a silk kimono, it simply isn’t substantial enough for some readers, but the group did agree that there is much to admire in its elegance and craft.
