A Company of Swans by Eva Ibbotson

This book will appeal to any girl who is intrigued by the world of ballet or enjoys romance.

The author has a very beautiful writing style, although the vocabulary can be quite challenging at times. The characters are slightly stereotypical, but very likeable and easy to sympathise with.

It is an easy, light “girly” read, but at the same time not overly cheesy. Part of the story is set against the backdrop of the Amazon, and the exotic atmosphere, along with the extravagant city, adds something unusual and captivating to the book.
